10 Things About... @karenrosesmith

This August, Maya's Musings is featuring a '10 Things About Me' series because I love getting to know all about my favorite authors. Over the course of the month, I will present a different author with 10 facts about themselves. In my request, I encouraged interesting, fun, and, perhaps, even silly responses to help their readers get to know them a little better.

Please join me in welcoming today's guest... Karen Rose Smith... Best known for romance and mystery novels as well as her love for cats! Welcome, Karen! Thanks for joining us today to share 10 facts about yourself.

 10 Things About Karen Rose Smith

1.      I was an only child who always longed for a sister.
2.      During my childhood I always had access to a relative's farm.
3.      This summer my husband and I took in a stray pregnant cat and helped deliver her kittens.
4.      When I was in my late twenties, I learned to swim and ride horses!
5.      I attended the Beatles concert at Dodger Stadium.
6.      With my cousin I wrote a script for The Monkees TV show.
7.      I wrote for six years and finished 13 manuscripts before I sold two books in one week to two different publishers.
8.      I use a tape recorder to write and like to tape on the patio on summer nights under the moon.
9.      I love 60's fashion.
10.  I'm a crazy cat lady!

BIO:

USA Today best-selling author Karen Rose Smith will see her 87th novel published in 2015. An only child, Karen delved into books at an early age. She learned about kindred spirits from Anne of Green Gables, solved mysteries with Nancy Drew, and wished she could have been the rider on The Black Stallion. Yet even though she escaped often into story worlds, she had many aunts, uncles and cousins around her on weekends. Her sense of family and relationships began there. Maybe that’s why families are a strong theme in her novels, whether mysteries or romances.
Readers often ask her about her pastimes. She has herb, flower and vegetable gardens that help her relax. In the winter, she cooks rather than gardens. And year round she spends most of her time with her husband, as well as her four rescued cats who are her constant companions. They chase rainbows from sun catchers, reminding her life isn’t all about work, awards and Bestseller lists. Everyone needs that rainbow to chase.
